Red Ribbon

This photo is a little bit old (Taken on April 1st of this year), but I thought I would add it. I was looking at some photos that I've taken recently and realized how much I've grown creatively in the past 9 months. This photo really marks the start of my mastering photo editing and really studying photography and graphic design. I graduated with my B.S. in Computer Graphics last December and took some time off between then and when I started my M.S. It was really during that time that I really started "learning to be creative". And, it's been awesome ever since! I'm so excited for my upcoming Family & Wedding photography shoots. Thank you so so much for letting me take your pictures! :)

P.S. I'm REALLY excited for the I Heart Faces photo competition next week. You've already seen the photo, but I think it'll be a perfect fit. Check out their Friday blogs. Since I'm in school, I haven't been participating in the Fix-It-Friday competitions, but it's really good photo editing inspiration.

Minneapolis Part 2 & an I heart faces place!!

So, before I add the last few shots from our Minnesota trip, I am so very excited that I placed 6 in this weeks I Heart Faces contest!!! That's really exciting for me. It really motivates me to keep on chuggin on my photography and seeing what I can to with photography and taking time to learn from others. Soooo, for those of you out there wanting to improve your photography skills, start taking part in either their weekly challenges or their Fix-It Friday's. Check it out here. All levels of photography skills are welcome and encouraged.

An now here's more from our Minnesota trip:

I'm not the best at artsy shots, but I wanted to try a few. I think these were my favorite...Still not perfecto, but it's a start.

Minneapolis, MN - Part 1

I spent the last almost week in Minneapolis, MN while B was in business meetings. I think I may have actually squealed when we got to our hotel room and I looked out the window and found this:

(right around Marquette and 10th in downtown Minneapolis just in case someone wants to know)

Which then resulted in this (we're not the best models, but we have to practice somehow!):

Love love love it! More Minnesota love to come.

Kit Kat

I was at my parents farm this weekend waiting for the hummingbirds and finches to hang out at their bird feeder (with no luck that day), but their cat (affectionaly called Kit Kat) was posing nicely for me. These two shots were my favorite.

Despite the fact that she looks very angry and about to take care of someone in the picture below, she was just licking her lips. With that said, she is probably the best barn cat my parents could ask for. She's a pro at taking care of the mice!

Meet Us

On our way to my friend Megan's wedding (photo's coming soon!) this weekend, we saw this bright and colorful deserted building. I wanted to stop and take pictures, but we weren't sure if we had enough time. So on we went...

However on the way home, it was still light enough and we got some sweet shots. I LOVE this building! The colors are fun and there are lots of options. I have no idea what it was whenever it was open. But, I'm thankful it wasn't gated off and we could get some fun pictures. So, here's what we took. I also thought it'd be fun to tell a little bit about ourselves, so meet Brandon:

Well, he's an engineer. Enough said right? Haha. Wrong! He's more than just a biomedical nerd. He also enjoys learning the technical side of photography. He'd spend every day on the golf course if it were possible, and he loves playing softball. He can play guitar hero on expert and is a Mario Kart pro. Brandon enjoys dessert, especially ice cream.

Meet Kim:

Kim's been in love with the camera ever since she learned how to say, "Cheese!". She has probably taken over a million pictures. If she's not behind the camera, you'll probably find her studying, doing crafty projects, or cooking. She plays volleyball, and you might see her out on a run. She's a graphic designer by trade (with a degree in Computer Graphics Technology), but loves teaching and creativity.

That's us! :) The photos that I took from Megan & Andy's wedding will be coming soon.

Chicago (July 6, 2009)

Brandon and I went to Chicago the Monday following the 5th. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot out. We went to the Sears Tower (I'd never been before.) We didn't really know this until we already had the trip planned, but they had recently opened their glass "rooms" that are kinda like decks off the top of the tower except completely encloced in glass (top, sides, and BOTTOM). I can't lie, it made me a little dizzy! It's all a mind game, but when you really look down and see the tops of "sky scrapers", it's just kinda crazy. Here are some of our shots from the day :)

Far from a nice "photo", but this is what it looked like.
If you can see past our shadows, that's a really tall building we're "standing on top of".

You can't go to Chicago without a picture at the Bean.

Updates!

So, I'm getting there with getting this thing updated. I added some old stuff, so you might have to dig a little deeper for the new. But, more to come soon! I've been doing quite a bit of Photoshop training at work lately, so I'm improving my photo editing abilities a TON. So so so excited about it too!! I'll leave you with a photo of the awesome wind farms? I think that's what they are called in eastern Illinois. We drive through about 20 miles of them or so on our way out to Nauvoo, IL. I think they are mesmerizing. The last time we made the trip, the weather was perfect and the sky was pretty. So, we stopped and took some shots. Here is my favorite (edited 2 different ways):

Spring Fest & Team Davis!

Here are some shots I took at Spring Fest at Purdue a week or so ago:

Brandon has joined me in my love for photography...or at least, he's on his way! He's becoming a quick pro!! I took this on our Canon PowersShot, and it was so blurry I tried to make it look like a sketch in Photoshop.

Golf baby!

I'm attempting to start bringing my camera with me more often, and let me just say..this inspired me to! Brandon went to the driving range, and I went with him. I swung a few (my best and farthest..drive?...ever!), and then got down to business at what I'm better at (than golf anyway). I was VERY excited about the 1st in this series...sigh...I LOVE photography!

I love how you can see his shadow in the club..That was a very happy moment when I realized what I was getting and was able to set it up nicely...:)

Yesterday!

I finally went picture "crazy" yesterday taking some fun shots. These were my two favorites. I feel like I've gotten a million times better at editing photos since I've had some time to spend at home. It makes everything much, much more exciting. The sad part is that I feel kinda bad for all those pictures that I've already done for people and edited not even half as well as I do now...sigh...Here's to the future photos. I've officially booked 1 wedding reception (march 21st) and almost officially booked another wedding & reception in August. I have two other potential weddings. One is in December, and the other not until next June. I'm pretty darn excited! I love love love taking pictures!! I also have an engagement session coming up this spring...once things start blooming and getting beautiful! :)

This one is getting cut off for some reason. I tried to fix, but no luck. Click to see the full image.

I decided to add my "self portrait". I'm really starting to get a taste of what lighting is really suppose to be like. It's so fun when you learn how to work it.
