I Heart Faces - Week 30 - Bubbles

So, for lack of a better picture, not owning bubbles, and having no cute kids to take pictures of with bubbles...this one is my choice...despite the fact that there's a big stinkin arm in the corner of it. I really like the expression on Megan's face and..well Andy is trying to pop the bubbles..like a kid! He's a jokester. They have so much fun. I was a guest at this wedding, but I still got some nice shots (note the bride was looking right at me :D She was one of my college roommates).

I did add a curves layer to this and softened it some. Check out the other pictures from their big day. And the other awesome submissions on I Heart Faces.

Minneapolis Part 2 & an I heart faces place!!

So, before I add the last few shots from our Minnesota trip, I am so very excited that I placed 6 in this weeks I Heart Faces contest!!! That's really exciting for me. It really motivates me to keep on chuggin on my photography and seeing what I can to with photography and taking time to learn from others. Soooo, for those of you out there wanting to improve your photography skills, start taking part in either their weekly challenges or their Fix-It Friday's. Check it out here. All levels of photography skills are welcome and encouraged.

An now here's more from our Minnesota trip:

I'm not the best at artsy shots, but I wanted to try a few. I think these were my favorite...Still not perfecto, but it's a start.

Minneapolis, MN - Part 1

I spent the last almost week in Minneapolis, MN while B was in business meetings. I think I may have actually squealed when we got to our hotel room and I looked out the window and found this:

(right around Marquette and 10th in downtown Minneapolis just in case someone wants to know)

Which then resulted in this (we're not the best models, but we have to practice somehow!):

Love love love it! More Minnesota love to come.

I Heart Faces - Week 29!

It's week 29 at I heart faces, and I finally found a picture I had taken to fit the category! I was at a family get together a few months ago and asked my cousin Bailey if she would be my model. At first she said no, so I tried taking a picture...and this is what I got:

I darkened the background some using a curves layer in Photoshop and then added some glam. She later decided that she did want me to take her pictures. You can see them here.

Be sure to check out the other amazing photos at I Heart Faces. It's pretty awesome what people come up with. Click on the logo above! :)

Creative Ads - Escaltors

So, for those of you who don't know, I love advertising. Given my graphic design background and the fact that I have worked with marketing departments and advertising companies, I can't help but be thrilled to see a cool ad that just oozes creativity and thinking outside of the box. Thankfully photography and advertising are a good match. I recently stumbled upon some of the most creative advertisements I have ever seen! Maybe I will start a tradition of spotlighting really cool ads....We'll see! But this is a must see...I couldn't decide which was my favorite, so you must go here to see the rest!

My small town mall doesn't even have an escalator so the odds of spotting something like this myself are slim to none. However, I can be greatly appreciative when someone else does.

Can't get any more creative than that!

Jaden & Beth

These are from awhile ago, but I finally got around to editing them. This is Jaden and my Sister-In-Law Beth. She was chasing him back and forth on a Sunday afternoon and tickling him. He kept telling her to stop, but then wouldn't let her stop chasing him either. Pretty cute! I love this kid.

Michelle

Michelle is one of my youngest cousins. She'll be starting kindergarten in a couple weeks! I think she's pretty excited about that. I snapped this shot of her at my future sister-in-law's bridal shower last weekend.

Kit Kat

I was at my parents farm this weekend waiting for the hummingbirds and finches to hang out at their bird feeder (with no luck that day), but their cat (affectionaly called Kit Kat) was posing nicely for me. These two shots were my favorite.

Despite the fact that she looks very angry and about to take care of someone in the picture below, she was just licking her lips. With that said, she is probably the best barn cat my parents could ask for. She's a pro at taking care of the mice!
